“Gyala” is the first feature film by Konstantinos Frangoulis and its premiere took place at the 64th Thessaloniki International Film Festival. It is a mystery film shot entirely on the island of Samos. 
 
It is framed by a youthful and fresh cast like
Maria Damasioti, George Kafetzopoulos, Nancy Bouklis, Corina Anna Gougouli and George Tripodis.
 
Summary:
After an accident, a young girl finds herself in an isolated mansion on an island and tries to regain her lost memory with the help of a strange "exclusive" nurse.
 
Is it worth returning to her lost memories?
 
The original composition of the music is signed by Andreas Levisianos with the voice of Dimitra Kandia in a “soundscape” that he created by tinkering with his piano and a mazurka by Chopin. In official soundtrack of "Gyala" the song heard is "Socket" from the band MESS, which is expected to be released soon. The poster was made for us and painted by Elisa Seitzinger inspired by the despair of “Hanged" from the Tarot cards with an art nouveau mood. Konstantinos Frangoulis' film was launched with the help of the Greek Film Center through the program microbudget in production of Lama Pictures. Samothrion and the North Aegean Region also supported its production and execution within only 15 days of filming.
 
The “gyala” is a Greek film about forgetting and trauma. Its content also opens a window for discussion regarding the institutionalization to which such “forgotten” female souls by dividing them into 3 heroines, who have a lot in common.
They have all forgotten that they experienced violence. 
The protagonist of the fishbowl when she remembers what she has happened, answers us with a riddle, a code that viewers are invited to solve at the end of the film:
 
“Every soul must light a candle, a light in the wild night”
 
Reviews
 
The "Gyala" by Konstantinos Fragoulis is a well-made psychological thriller that has the right doses of the ingredients needed for a successful film of this genre. The directorial rhythm is exemplary in creating tension and suspense. At the same time, the element of fantasy somehow intrudes into Maro's character, which adds an additional interesting note.
 
The performances of the two protagonists, Maria Damasioti and Giorgos Kafetzopoulos, are balanced and quite convincing.
